International Construction and Building Technology Trade Fair FinnBuild 4 – 6 October 2022
Booth: 6m48

The international construction and building technology trade fair, FinnBuild, will be held at the Messukeskus conference centre in Helsinki on 4 6 October 2022. The three-day event brings together construction industry professionals after a four-year break to network and to update their knowledge of the newest technologies, regulations, and best practices. The themes of the event this year are the future of construction, the importance of digitization in construction, the circular economy and responsibility, and the employer of the future.

Digitization is changing the whole construction industry

Construction projects that have exceeded the planned budget and are behind schedule are typically criticized in public. Successful construction projects get less plot space and are "shredded" less. For example, HUS, which specializes in hospital construction projects in Finland, announced on its own website in 2021/01 that Hospital construction projects stay within their budgets and on schedule". Juha Tiuraniemi, CEO of HUS real estate, places systematic data management and the use of digitization in a key position in improving cost efficiency and quality. Systematic data management requires digital tools, so paper-based data storage, for example, is not a possible method. Digitization brings relief and changes the industry when the right tools are used in the projects. At best, the information is stored and available to everyone in digital form, transparently. When information is available to everyone, the risk of data interruptions or human forgetfulness caused by personnel changes is reduced. In addition, the information is available in real time to all the project parties without printing reports or sending e-mails, even after the project has ended.

On the other hand, the information management of a large construction project cannot be solved with the help of a single digital tool. Several tools are needed. These tools must communicate with each other so that the information does not get stuck in "digital folders" in different systems. There are concrete solutions to these challenges, which we will talk about at the fair. Come to meet us and listen our speakers’ presentations.

Timo Makkonen, CEO of Congrid, will take the DigiPro stage to talk about information sharing and the digital supply chain. In the speech, he discusses the automation of quality documentation by means of integration between systems, as well as the possibilities related to the transparent documentation of materials.

Congrid's sales manager, Otto Ruusunen highlights the benefits of digitization, from data collection to its utilization and business development. In his speech, he underlines the importance of utilizing data and managing with information as a business driver.

The use of digital tools is a sure future competitive advantage in the construction industry. Welcome to booth 6m48 to meet the Congrid team!

Otto Ruusunen, Head of Sales & Accounts, Congrid

When two site managers founded Congrid in 2013, they discovered that the documentation practices and methods in the construction industry were stuck in the 1990s. The resulting collaboration took quality and safety management in the construction industry to a new level. This year, Congrid wants especially to emphasize the importance of digitization in construction. With the help of the easy-to-use software, the flow of information and cooperation on construction sites are improved when all parties to the project get the necessary information.
